Uses
The hardware, software, and infra I actually run day to day.
Hardware
- Windows desktop as the primary command station. Closest physical proximity to me of any station I run.
- Beelink mini PC as the always-on linux box (ben-command) for content-pipeline jobs and scheduled agents.
- Production app box (Windows Server 2016, IIS) for the SaaS that pays for everything else.
Agents and coding
- Claude Code is the daily driver. Multiple parallel sessions across clones, orchestrated through my own internal CLI and a vault of dashboards.
- codex for second-opinion reviews, hard reasoning passes, and the zero-cost blog ingester that turns work logs into beats.
- Manus for async multi-review cascades on architecture docs.
- Model choice is deliberate. Haiku for lookups, Sonnet as the default, Opus reserved for genuinely hard reasoning. Quota is the constraint, not capability.
This site
- Astro for the static build. Content collections for posts, MDX where I need it, plain markdown where I do not.
- Cloudflare Pages for hosting, with Cloudflare in front of everything else I run.
- Fastmail on dxdev.com for email. GoDaddy and Cloudflare split the rest of the ~60-domain portfolio.
Production app stack
- Classic ASP + SQL Server on IIS. Older than it sounds, more reliable than it looks.
- A newer frontend monorepo (pnpm workspaces, Node services behind IIS via ARR) is gradually carving surfaces off the ASP monolith.
- Bamboo handles deploys. Self-hosted GitHub runners on the prod box for the Node side.
Knowledge and ops
- Obsidian vault as the single source of truth for architecture, decisions, work logs, and dashboards. Agents read it constantly, write to it sparingly.
- JIRA for tickets. git + SSH for everything else.
